What is Blogging???? That is a question I found out the answer to today. This is my first blog but I am using it to put into context my understanding of blogging and its potential uses. Blogging is exactly what I am doing now; it can be a random rant, a facebook update, a twitter post or informative news. According to blogpulse in 2009 there were 126 million blogs on the internet. In November 2009 there were 27.3 Million tweets a day and there are currently over 500 million facebook users with more than 50% of these logging on at least once a day. That means approximately 1 in 14 people of the world’s population are registered on facebook.
The immense growth of the use of blogging, microblogging and social media's over the last 5 years have hugely changed society's perspective on the internet as a mechanism for expressing emotions, moods and general perspectives.
Blogging can become very personal through the use of the emotions and similar perspectives, these attributes allow for opinions to be shared and friendships to be made. Not only can blogging be a tool for networking, it also allows for open information search, in other words you may never write a blog or post a comment but may still read them daily and take away information obtained from reading them.
I think in the next few years, blogging will have a lot more functions within the technology savvy society that we live in today. What exactly these uses will be, as with most technological advances is left to the imagination!!
Hey, I really like all the information you have on your blog its so useful and informative. 1 in 14 registered on facebook... WOW!! Thanks
